The Flag Act of 1979 (BE 2522) established most of the current unit flags. The designs and (scant) specifications can be found in Chapter 3 (Military Colors), Section 32. Unlike the unit colors that are Royally Granted, these flags are presented by Army leadership and would be used more often than the unit colors.

With exception to the Army Corps flag, the other unit flags will be modified with these colors. In this section as well, the name of the unit is placed in Thai numerals and abbreviations if there is multiple units of the same type on the same level.

Section 32. The Royal Thai Army Unit Flags are: (1) Army Unit Flag which is rectangular shape with 2 parts width and 3 parts length; the colours are divided into 2 parts; the upper part, which is the part from the bottom corner of the flag pole slanting up to the upper corner, is in red. The lower part, which is the rest of the part, is magenta. In the red part, on the upper corner section of the flag next to the flag pole, there is an emblem of the Royal Thai Army. Underneath the Royal Thai Army emblem, there are 3 yellow five-pointed stars arranged along the length of the flag.Zachary Harden, 5 October 2018

Section 32. The Royal Thai Army Unit Flags are: (3) Regiment Unit Flag which is of the same characteristic as the Division Unit Flag but there is no star underneath the Royal Thai Army Emblem; for the Cadet Regimental Unit Flag, the lower part of the flag is yellow and on the upper corner of the flag next to the flag pole there is the National Emblem of the Reign of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn instead of the Royal Thai Army Emblem and there is a band embracing the underside of the National Emblem; these charges are in yellow; inside the band the message "Cadet Regimental Unit" is written in red; for Special Operation Forces which are in the same level as a Regimental Unit, in the middle of the lower part of the flag, there is a yellow parachutist badge of appropriate size; and for Aviation Units which are in the same level as a Regimental Unit, in the middle of the lower part of the Flag, there is a white aviation capability badge of appropriate size.Zachary Harden, 5 October 2018

The Royal Thai Army Unit Flags are: (4) Battalion Unit Flag is rectangular shape with 2 parts width and 3 parts length; the colours are divided into 2 parts; the upper part, which is the part from the bottom corner of the flag pole slanting up to the upper corner, is in red. The lower part, which is the rest of the part is further divided into two parts by dividing from the centre point of the diagonal line slanting to the lower corner on the outside; the colour of the beginning part next to the flagpole is in accordance with the colour of the military unit; the furthest end is white; on the upper corner of the flag next to the flagpole, there is the Royal Thai Army emblem; for infantry battalion, there shall be a red band over the joint of the slanting diagonal line; for the Cadet Battalion Unit, the bottom part of the flag next to the flagpole is yellow, in the middle of the flag on the part next to the flagpole, there is the National Emblem and the same kind of band as the Cadet Regimental Unit; for Special Operation Forces which are in the same level as a Battalion unit, in the middle of the lower part of the flag, there is a yellow parachutist badge of appropriate size; and for the Aviation Units which are in the same level as a Battalion Unit, in the middle of the lower part of the Flag, there is a white aviation capability badge of appropriate size.Zachary Harden, 5 October 2018
